If you have questions, feedback on FreeFixer or the freefixer.com website, need help analyzing FreeFixer's scan result or just want to say hello, please contact me. You can find my email address at the contact page.
Please share with the other users what you think about this file. What does this file do? Is it legitimate or something that your computer is better without? Do you know how it was installed on your system? Did you install it yourself or did it come bundled with some other software? Is it running smoothly or do you get some error message? Any information that will help to document this file is welcome. Thank you for your contributions.
I'm reading all new comments so don't hesitate to post a question about the file. If I don't have the answer perhaps another user can help you.
I certainly did not welcome downloading Vosteran by accident and seeing it take over my browsers so it is definitely malware in my book. I had version 31.0.1650.23. There is a legitimate-looking website for the software http://www.vosteransearch.com/ which also has a page on how to remove it http://www.vosteransearch.com/how-to-remove/ which is actually quite comprehensive and accurate, outlining a two step procedure (1) uninstall the program from the Control Panel Add Programmes tab, and (2) reset all browsers to default and remove the vosteran search engine.
My problem was that when I tried to Uninstall Vosteran from the control panel, it told me to "please close all vosteran windows and try again". As I had already closed all my browsers, this puzzled me until I read your linked blog post above in which you advised to check the Task Manager and see the running processes. There were three vosteran processes running. Once I closed these and then returned to the Uninstall in the Add Programmes window, the program was uninstalled. I then went and reset my browswers and all looks clean. By the way, my antivirus software F-Secure did not pick this up on a scan. The only other difference from your description is that vosteran did not add any add-ons or extension to my Firefox or Chrome.
I had looked at quite a number of sites before seeing yours, some of which looked distinctly dodgy. While I did not need to use your malware software, I would have confidence in using it from the help I got here.

Thank you for the help above. I encountered the same problem as Alan above and closing down the Vosteran processes allowed me to uninstall as well. Finally Vosteran clean.
