While looking at the properties of astsrv.exe the Digital Signature list stated, 'NITRO PDF Software contact@nitropro.com 23 June 2009 02:54:51.
There is a lot more information displayed under the 'Details' button, far to much to list at this time.
I had installed a trial version of Nito Pro on 01/08/2009, now uninstalled. I assume this file was left behind at that time

ASTSRV.EXE on my PC is a "remnant" of the Nitro PDF Pro programme that I tested and then uninstalled yesterday. I noticed the astsrv.exe file quite by accident when checking Task Manager this morning.

Disabling the AST Nalpeiron service related to astsrv.exe implies I cannot start Focalpoint, onOne plugin for Photoshop. Nevertheless it is not fair something installed itself without permission and starts without having been asked, even if (perhaps) not dangerous.

I just checked services. Msc and found the 'NLS service' (Nalpeiron Licensing Service) set to Automatic and Started.
It appears to relate to some kind of digital rights management but I can't find if it's good or bad via Google.
Can anyone advise please? I've now disabled it.
