Samsung Easy Printer Manager file. Came with Samsung printer drivers CD. When I uninstalled item from program files, it dissapeared from registry and .exe file also dissapeared.

Same observation as above: installed with Samsung.

A security program (ThreatFire) showed that a file in the Windows\temp directory wanted to make a connection with 67.228.112.199 a server of Layersoft. KIlled the process.

CDASrv.exe starts from HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I have disabled the start, don't know (yet) about missing functionality.

My 4 GPUs (AMD), went to 99% activity and the fans went nuts. I thought I'd have catched some virus which calculates bitcoins on my expense. Well it turned out disabling CDAsrv.exe services muted my GPUs and activity went down to 0. I don't know what CDAsrv is meant to do, but I didn't ask for it, nor did I want to spend 2 hours figuring out what programm messes with my GPUs. I also think I installed it with my new samsung printer. (thank you samsung!)

This was installed from my Samsung driver CD. And I was made aware of it when My antivirus went off (Bitdefender) if you turn on Paranoid Mode it will trigger on this right away and warn you about it, also its tied into a key-log .DLL -

- "cdakeymonitor.dll (CDA Custom Monitor for Smart Capture by Samsung Electronics Co Ltd)"
- "cdasrvps.dll (Common Desktop Agent )"

I removed all of the references of these from my reg file and blocked it in my firewall as well. PS runs at start-up for all users.

Hope this helps.

AVG Free 2014 noted this as a threat today. We run XP wire-networked to a Samsung printer for a year with no problems or changes. After removal and restart, printer works well. Probably not malware, but who really knows?

By the way, you have a very practical and informative site.
Good job!
