I'm here because of FreemakeUtilsService.exe ... every website I have looked at about this tells me it is not harmful but none (including yours!) tells me why I should keep it! What is it, why is it there and what does it do?

Freemakeutilsservice.exe is installed when you download the Freemake Video Converter, a free video editor. If you're not using that video editor, then go ahead and have it removed but it's not harmful to your computer. Virus scanners like Norton pick it up because the developer is reported as "unknown."
