I have Windows 8.1 , not using Windows 10 yet to see what feedback is from other users and organisations.
I use Pokki Start Menu.
Friday October 30 I had a warning from microsoft of Malware
trying to get into my computer. It recommended that I activate "Defender" to prevent the "bug" getting in. I did so and "Defender went into action.
When this was finished and my screen was back to normal,
I went into Outlook(my(e-mails) and this appeared;
Heading "Problem with Shortcut"

"The item HostAppService.exe that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly.

Do you want to delete this shortcut?

Yes No"

When I do "No" nothing changes.
When I went into "outlook" and did "Yes" it removed from my taskbar.
When I went into "Pokki start menu" it removed from my taskbar.
Yet when I checked the website for "HostAppService.exe" it is part of the Pokki setup.
I didnt even know I had its shortcut.
I have today done a restore back to Thursday but this
"Problem with Shortcut" is still there.
It happens if I try Google, but not with Firefox,Explorer or BBC. "Action Centre " does not now appear on taskbar.

On Friday, Oct 30, I received a Malware warning from Microsoft on my Windows 10 home page. I did as recommended and removed the Malware. Now my start menu gives me a message "StartMenu.ink" is unavailable. How do I get back to the position I was in before all these ridiculous messages started.

Servicehostapp seems to be part of an app signed by Pokki that was intended to replace the missing start button that Microsoft took out in Windows 8. Lenovo even preinstalled the app on its computers, so it seems legit, although I don't know if it does something else while sitting on your taskbar. In my case, the app appears as a house icon in the taskbar and when you click on it you get some of the functionality of the old Windows start button and an app store. The app apparently checks for updates every time you start your computer and I think that's why servicehostapp appears in the task manager. The update task is listed in the task scheduler, and in my case it is named "SweetLabs App Platform". I chose to leave it because it provides a direct access to control panel. If you want to get rid of servicehostapp appearing in your task manager every time you start your computer you may want to disable the aforementioned task in the task scheduler or uninstall the app. If you want to remove it I think there should be no problems as it is no essential to the system but as with the uninstalling of any program it is good to make a restore point before uninstalling.
