SHOWTIP.EXE has started (after an update on 7 May 2015 to try to access 3's web site and all it gets is a small text file. Unfortunately it does that upwards of 20,000 times per day.

My workround is to remane it SHOWTIP.EXE.OLD and it no longer runs.

I have escalated it through 3 and was sent to ZTE to report it but they have not replied.

20000 times per day! It's almost as a Denial of Service attack :)

Thanks for sharing!

ZTE is the manufacturer from the modem I use.
So, I believe it has to do with the functioning of the modem. May be, it keeps connection with the internet provider "open", as most providers disconnect after some time of no-operatiosn.
