Had sysguard.exe infection; at first Malwarebytes couldn't remove it, even in Safe Mode. Luckily, the computer was set up with 2 accounts, and the infected account wasn't the primary or administrative account. Started the infected account, then left it running and switched to the primary account. Ran Task Manager, checked the "show processes from all users box", and killed "lkvosysguard", then switched back to the infected account. Now Malwarebytes would run, and it found and cleared the infection.
If you are infected and don't already have multiple accounts set up, see if you can establish a new account, as the sysguard infection seems to embed itself in the registry keys under "current_user", and you may be able to create a second, un-infected account.
