TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Regarding this software purchase and installation on August 20. 2016 see
statement pasted below.

The software totally failed to fix my computer issue. I had to purchase a
new computer as a result. I am extremely disappointed with TechUtilities 1
Computer License. I resent paying $39.90 for software which failed to do
what it claimed it would do.

I insist upon a full refund immediately, If you fail to refund me by
September 11, 2016, I shall publicise the crappiness of your product on
Facebook and everywhere else I connect with computer users.

Yours truly,

Gillian Rose

TechUtilities is terrible! It was advertised on Wikipedia to fix Microsoft Error Code 0x80070052. That really messed up my computer, leading to Error Code 0x800700b7. I ended up spending two days, using the Command Prompt and other help, to get my computer running again. Who do I contact for a refund? I have the license key, and intend to delete it from my computer. How do I get my money back?

I was desperate for help with a problem. Unfortunately I came across TechUtilities. I paid the $39.90 USD which was a fair bit more in Australian dollars. I went through the problem online with a so called tech. He took control of my computer. Said he could fix it for a six month 24/7 contract of couple hundred dollars. I said I was a pensioner couldn't afford it. He went to see the manager and said they would do a one off for $137.00. I was desperate, so I agreed. One hour later he gave up on the problem and said to call back after trying something else. Next day I contacted them again with a problem related to the first. Funnily, the same names of the two techs came up. Anyway we tried some things. They take over your computer, make it look like they are running tests and checking settings. Anyway he wanted me to do something that I knew was the problem shutting down my computer. I said I will do it but I will need you to stay online because it will shut down. He said don't worry I'll be here when you reboot the computer. The computer shut down, as I thought it would. On trying to reboot I got a critical error and Windows wouldn't startup. I ended up having to reload a fresh install of Windows 7.
Over $200 later I got squat. I wish I had some kind of legal recourse. A.....les.

@Paul: I think you should ask for a refund. He did not fix the problem as he said he would. Instead you got a much bigger problem.

I purchased a 1 year subscription, and didn't get a licence no. I've sent emails to safecart, and put a ticket in to wiki-errors, asking for the license which was supposed to be supplied with the order confirmation email. No reply from anyone. I've since uninstalled the app and I strongly advise anyone thinking of paying for it, don't. It's a scam! I'm kicking myself for being so naive.

I had the 80070422 Windows Update problem, so I Googled around and found the wiki solution to this, recommending Tech Utilities.

I purchased the program using PayPal. After receiving an email with the license key, I clicked on 'Activate Now'. That's when a chat box popped up and an 'agent' called Justin was there to 'help' me. Of course, the moment he said he needed to connect to my computer (aka take over remotely) I realized this was a scam attempt and only then did I bother to check online whether others might have reported this. That's when I found this FreeFixer page.

I asked him why he would need to connect and he said that was the only way to fix my problems. At that point there was no doubt left that this was a scam attempt, so I simply told him I had changed my mind and requested a refund. Since I had not yet activated the program (the license key) they sent me a full refund within two minutes. I'm really glad I got out of this unscathed.

As for 80070422, a simple fix is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooDKZOCYqv0

Tech Utilities only takes your money and you get nothing in return other than a lesson in never trusting them ever again. I spent $29.95 only to have nothing fixed! They kept trying to get me to spend more to fix the problem but I held my ground. I live only on my SS, barely get by month to month and at 71 years of age I am hurt that I trusted this place and got done dirty. I want my $29.95 back!!!

I downloaded and paid $39.95 for techutilities and like everyone else I got the "shaft". No repairs, just pressure to spend $179.99 to fix my problems. This is just a scam. Only 2 techs that go by "Peter" and "Benjamin", as if thaT WAS THEIR REAL names, working out of India. NOT! I want a refund and have been unsuccessful at getting one.

I opened TechUtilities and it started scanning my computer. When finished, it told me that a fix would cost money, so I x'ed out. But it keeps coming back repeatedly (un-invited) to start new scans and I cannot eliminate it from the computer. Is it a reliable program or is it dangerous?

I used the services of TechUtilities last week, and although I found their services expensive and marketing practices deceptive they solved my problem and more.

I had just collected my PC from a technician here in Johannesburg, and was still having issues. When looking for a solution I came across TechUtilities, and reluctantly signed up for the two year subscription ($39.95). When they went through the whole process, I was told that there were multiple issues identified that would require a technician and a charge of $139.99, with results guaranteed for 60 days.

I was extremely reluctant, being wary of a scam, but they agreed to fix the problems and I would only pay if happy with the service. The initial problem that I called about was solved within 5 minutes, but then the technician went through the computer thoroughly--malware, redundant files, putting ad blockers in place on all browsers, etc. The total time taken was at least two hours, and maybe three. The performance of the PC improved significantly, even after a cleanup by somebody with 40 years experience with computers.

During the time on-line, I asked many questions due to my concerns about fraud. The company is based in Bangalore, but does not make reference to this in any of their marketing. Written English in the communications was excellent. When payment was requested, the screen showed "Clickbank"; although it is an online retailer, it does facilitate payments for other services.

On the whole, I was satisfied. My biggest complaint is the amount of time spent trying to convince myself that it was not a scam. Yes, there may be instances where they cannot solve your problem, but if they fix it they will do that and more.
