Windows 7 in safe mode freezes on /Windows/system32/drivers/aswbidsha. How can I get past that?

It seems that this is a problem caused by AVASTs software. There's a lot of users that have the same problem over at Avasts web site.

I have run into this problem because I restarted my computer in the middle of a scan. I forgot Avast was running when something else asked me to restart now. Dumb bunny. I am currently looking at my screen in Safe Mode and waiting, to no avail.
