Although this file is not a virus, it acts like one. When I updated to AVG free 2016, a popup came up to tell me that I was updated to the latest AVG free, but the popup never disappeared and I could not close it, either.

I finally found out that avguix.exe was responsible for it and I had to remove it from C:\Program Files(x86) \AVG\Framework\Common\ folder.

md5 for the avguix file was accurate for version i had however the problem still existed; delete the file as ywn states and you may need to disable the startup file in msconfig as well.

I am trying to remove avguix.exe but have failed so far. I tried to remove as suggested above but it refuses to be deleted saying it is protected.

@vijay: It sounds like your installation of AVG anti-virus has been damaged. I think you should reinstall it.
