My gdsmux.exe came with my k-lite codec. I downloaded the klite codec pack in 2010(?) from the klite website and all antivirus identified it as safe except SMADAV which I installed in 2016 identified it as containing a worm.

@Ely: I think this K-Lite software is pretty old software and not used anymore. I guess you can uninstall it from the Windows Control Panel.
