gtbcheck.exe was noticed by my firewall on 8/11/2011 and 9/21/2011. It seems to appear and then be removed. It apparently doesn't access the internet (at least not directly) because my firewall says it transmitted 0 bytes and received 0 bytes. The maker, Solid State Networks, gets a bunch of hits on Google, but they seem to mostly be self-descripton or self-promotion. FWIW, I _suspect_ this program _might_ have something to do with updating some program as the two dates listed are days that I downloaded and installed updates for several programs. (Think "Patch Tuesday")

I believe the gtb stands for Google Tool Bar. The gtbcheck runs during updating or installing Adobe Flash and checks for the presence of the toolbar. If you have not deselected the option to install the Chrome Browser and the toolbar, they will be installed if not already present.
