Roger ... am I missing something here?
I thought maybe I could download a replacement copy of the file LPCFilter.sys here at this site.
I have identified LPCFilter.sys as causing a BSOD in Vista Business on a Toshiba Satellite Pro P200 laptop whenever the Toshiba app HWSetup is launched.

Roger ... no download of file available from COMPAL ELECTRONIC(S) INC. ...

however, would you mind commenting on the MD5 & SHA256 hashes you have posted here for 'LPCFilter.sys' ... what do the appended 6 asterisks (******) represent? Unknown characters? Priveleged information? Or what?
And, how was the Product version & File version information you have posted developed?
My 3 copies of the file have no version info, bear different dates and 1 is larger in size (25,088 bytes, dated 19OCT06 14:48:24, Vista Business SP2 32-bit O/S location: ProgramData\Vista64\). My operative copy (location: Windows\System32\drivers\) is dated 28JUL06 16:25:26 and is 19,456 bytes in size.
Thanks, Kevin

@Kevin: You might want to check the Toshiba web site, they should have the LPCFilter.sys (and upgrades) available as a download, if this driver came pre-installed on your laptop. The driver could also be on one of the CD-ROMs that were delivered with your laptop.

The version information listed for lpcfilter.sys on this web site is extracted from the file during the FreeFixer scan. You can view the version information on your copies of lpcfilter.sys by right-clicking, selecting Properties and clicking on the Version tab.

You might want to run your 3 copies of this driver through the anti-virus scanners over at virustotal.com, just to make sure they are not infected.

Roger ... thanks for the comment and the info, however ...

... a search of Toshiba's Support site finds no mention of LPCFilter.sys (I wish it did - there should be a Service Bulletin on this issue by now). My Toshiba laptop has a hidden recovery partition, not DVDs, however, I did make myself a set of Toshiba Recovery DVDs (2) and will check them for a copy of the file.

LPCFilter.sys file Properties > Version reveals no version info whatsoever.

I will take your advice re: virustotal.com under advisement - my various malware & anti-virus scanners do not find any issues with LPCFilter.sys.

Are you able to comment on my previous Q.'s re: the MD5 & SHA256 hashes?
Thanks, Kevin

@Kevin: I've hidden the last 6 characters in the MD5 and SHA256 hashes to prevent bots from collecting that information.
