Hi I am having a problem with starting my windows vista computer. It has automatically run start-up repair and the only problem it detected was reported as the rapporthades.sys file being corrupt. The computer will no longer boot into windows. Using the windows system tools I can access the command prompt and see the directory structures. Can I use the command prompt to delete this file and will windows then start. This seems to have been a problem from the 4 April, 2018 onwards which got worse today.

@Ruth: Yes, I would try to rename the rapporthades.sys file from the command prompt and test if the machine boots.

Did that work?

the file rapporthades64 brings up a message warning driver not digitaly signed. my machine will not boot up, it tries to do a start up recovery and looks for a solution, it never finds one and when I say no to sending data and choose advanced diags it takes me to a page where I choose memory check it runs that and then says nothing found and reboots and brings up normal screen. next time you turn on it comes up fine. then next time cycle starts again. I am running windows 7 and run Norton on my machines. Its driving me mad.
