I found this information about udb.exe:

"ubd is the ubiquity server process, and from Apple. It is primarily used for "Mobile Documents" (iCloud feature for syncing files)."

There seems to be bugs in the udb.exe process which results in a message saying "ubd.exe has stopped working" on some machines. If you've found a solution to that problem, please let me know.
