this file is legit, it comes with kingsoft office, but i deleted it because the wps update tool didnt say kingsoft anywhere on it, which was suspicious and scary. that is my reasoning behind deleting the file

The file is perfectly safe to keep on your computer; it simply allows Kingsoft to check for and install updates. If you find it a nuisance then you can remove it and it wont effect how Kingsoft runs.

A FixMe Stick scan quarantined a Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT - Vipre imbedded in the Kingsoft/WPS Office/10.1.0.5507/wtoolex/wpsupdate.exe
Since then, WPS is unable to update. Other programs I run auto update without an imbedded virus; perhaps Kingsoft needs to revisit the update code. Happy with WPS other than the updates.

Tried to remove it, but on my computer, there is no Kingsoft folder anywhere on the hard drive. It's a new HP laptop and I downloaded the program myself, yet no folder anywhere. How is this possible?

On my computer (Win 10) it's in c:/users/(MY NAME)/AppData/Local

I had to go to the View tab on the folder and check "Hidden items" to get AppData to show up, then Kingsoft was one of a long list of other unrelated folders.

Please help me to stop the annoying ad pop up for wps when I want to make a file, it is driving me crazy. If it continues, I will have to look for another programme,

@Caroline: I'm not sure I understand the problem. Do you get a pop-up ad while trying to create a new document file inside Kingsoft Office?
