Cloud Software - 14% Detection Rate *

Did you just find a download or a file on your computer that is digitally signed by Cloud Software? Some of the security products refers to the detected files as PUP.Optional.ConvertAd and Virus.Gen!c. The detection rate for the Cloud Software files collected here is 14%. Please read on for more details.

You will probably see Cloud Software when double-clicking to run the file. The publisher name is displayed as the "Verified publisher" in the UAC dialog as the screengrab shows:

You can view additional details from the Cloud Software certificate with the following procedure:

  1. Open Windows Explorer and locate the Cloud Software file
  2. Right-click the file and select Properties
  3. Click on the Digital Signatures tab
  4. Click the View Certificate button

Here's a screenshot of a file that has been signed by Cloud Software:

As you can see in the screenshot above, Windows states that "This digital signature is OK". This implies that the file has been published by Cloud Software and that the file has not been tampered with.

If you click the View Certificate button shown in the screenshot above, you can examine all the details of the certificate, such as when it was issued, who issued the certificate, how long it is valid, etc. You can also examine the address for Cloud Software, such as the street name, city and country.

Go Daddy Secure Certificate Authority - G2, DigiCert SHA2 Assured ID Code Signing CA, GlobalSign CodeSigning CA - SHA256 - G2 and thawte SHA256 Code Signing CA has issued the Cloud Software certificates. You can also examine the details of the issuer by clicking the View Certificate button shown in the screenshot above.
