Did you just find a download or a file on your computer that is digitally signed by Xacti? Some of the security products refers to the detected files as Adware.Win32.Crawler.BB and MalSign.Generic.01B. The detection rate for the Xacti files collected here is 9%. Please read on for more details.
You will typically see Xacti when clicking to run the file. The publisher name shows up as the "Verified publisher" in the UAC dialog as the screenshot shows:
You can also view the Xacti certificate with the following steps:
Here is a screengrab of a file signed by Xacti:
As you can see in the screengrab above, Windows reports that "This digital signature is OK". This implies that the file has been published by Xacti and that the file has not been tampered with.
If you click the View Certificate button shown in the screenshot above, you can view all the details of the certificate, such as when it was issued, who issued the certificate, how long it is valid, and so on. You can also view the address for Xacti, such as the street name, city and country.
Thawte Code Signing CA - G2 has issued the Xacti certificates. You can also see the details of the issuer by clicking the View Certificate button shown in the screenshot above.
These are the Xacti files I've gathered, thanks to the FreeFixer users.
